We're lucky enough to come to the Crown Casino pretty regularly. Every month or so, we find ourselves back here in the poker room reporting on a major poker championships. This place is like a second home. Whether it's the Aussie Millions, WSOP-APAC, APPT or ANZPT, the Crown Poker Room is undoubtedly the home of poker in Australia and the Crown Casino has witnessed many of the country's greatest poker moments.
Coming here regularly means we also get to see the casino evolve. There always seems to be construction works happening as Crown Casino constantly redevelops and transforms itself to stay fresh and vibrant as one of the country's leaders in dining and entertainment.
One of the newer areas of Crown is known as the West End. Those who were here for the Aussie Millions or WSOP-APAC would have probably seen the filming of the final tables held in a studio in this area. Located two levels above the poker room, there are a great range of bars and restaurants on offer in this new precinct.
The Merrywell is a popular choice for burgers, while the balcony of Lumia is a fantastic spot for a drink overlooking the Melbourne city skyline. The Common Room is also a great spot for relaxing and watching sports on the many LCD screens throughout the room.
Those looking for a quality, hearty pub meal should look no further than Jimbo & Rex. The pizzas are great, but they also have a great range of steaks, fish, pastas and more. They are currently running special $9.90 Footy Meal Deals from 12pm-6pm every day which should appeal to anyone in town for the ANZPT Repechage. For $9.90 you can choose from a porterhouse steak, burger or chicken parmigiana served with fries and a pot of beer. Can't beat that for a +EV meal. Participating outlets include Cotta, Emporio della Pasta and Jimbo & Rex.
And if you're looking for a quick bite on the break of the ANZPT Repechage Main Event, then head past the food court and try out Gochi, a new Japanese restaurant just a short dash from the poker room. They have plenty of takeaway options including sushi rolls, nigiri sashimi and sushi and deluxe bento boxes, which are perfect for those on the go.
Whatever you fancy, the Crown Casino had got you covered, any time, day or night. It's why poker players, and reporters, love coming back here.
