There is a scene in Lethal Weapon 2 that played over and over in our minds at the 2009 World Series of Poker. Throughout the week of the Main Event, we watched a young Spanish woman climb through the ranks of the field. Each time she made it to another day, it reminded us of that scene and the line, "I'm Leo Getz, and whatever you want, Leo gets."
Except in this case, the PokerStars Blog's Stephen Bartley would turn to the assembled media on press row and remind them all, "Whatever Leo wants, Margets."
Now the Barcelona-born Spanish poker phenom is getting something else she wants. Leo Margets is now an official member of Team PokerStars Pro.
Taught to play cards by her boyfriend in 2007, Margets went on to finish in the top 30 that year at the WSOP. It earned her more than $350,000. She went on to win a Full Tilt Masters Series invitational event and make a 2010 Aussie Millions side event final table. Among her many other big finishes since then, Margets won the 2012 EPT Grand Final Ladies event.
A former business and communications student, Margets is a marathon runner and aspiring novelist. Today, she has to be the odds-on favorite among Team PokerStars Pro as they climb Tower 42 for charity.
Now a full-fledged member of Team PokerStars Pro, you'll find her playing under the screen name 'L. Margets.'
Welcome to the team, Leo, and good luck today.
